Defence Members

We know that serving in the ADF can open up a range of opportunities for members now, and for their future, and we want members to be more across planning for their financial future as early as possible in their careers.

Earning a good income, serving members can build a future across general savings, investments, buying a home or starting their investment property journey.

With benefits such as HPAS and HPSEA for buying and selling a home, to utilising the best loan opportunities with a solid and stable income or investing while serving are just some of the things you need to be across but also when discharging, Defence provides support prior to you leaving Defence to get an idea of your financial future - at the expense of the ADF.

We support serving members with their property goals with Buyers Agents and property advisory services, including connecting them with mortgage brokers to help them execute on their property goals.

With property being a key driver of wealth and financial security in Australia, we see that the sooner a serving member can get into property - investment or owner occupier - then the better the long term financial outcome.

Financial Advice for Defence Transitions

When making the decision to leave Defence and start the transitions process, there are many issues that a veteran has to be across and focus - housing, employment, meeting medical needs, providing for their family and ongoing bills and debts.

When transitioning, Australian Defence Force (ADF) members may be eligible to access professional financial advice, with a member being eligible to apply for professional financial advice within 24 months of their transition date.

Veteran Financial Connect believes this is an opportunity that every member who is going to transition from Defence, or has in the last 24 months, should take advantage of, and we can help connect you with a financial advisor and discuss what you need to be aware of post your discharge date.

Getting a thorough understanding of what costs you will be up for once you leave Defence, how to manage those expenses and getting an understanding of your financial position once you discharge is very important.

Veteran Financial Connect can help you access your Defence transition financial advice entitlement, and as approval may take up to 21 days, we encourage members transitioning to reach out to us at the earliest possible point in time.

Can I Get Financial Advice After Discharge?

In short - yes.

If you did not use your transitions financial advice entitlement during your discharge process, you may be able to access up to $1000 paid to an adviser, or reimbursed to you to speak with a financial adviser, for up to 24 months post discharge.
