Financial Challenges Facing Veterans
A survey found over one third of veterans reported facing difficulties in paying bills, and that only half of the respondents had money set aside for a rainy day or an emergency.
Veterans can face an array of barriers to financial well-being, including when going through the discharge process facing an uncertain financial future, marriage breakdown and child support, difficulties budgeting and making ends meet, limited financial knowledge, poor judgement around money making decisions and disruptions to employment post discharge due to service related injuries.
Plus the accumulation of debt whilst in service from some of the service spending traps we see such as wanting a top of the line car, jet ski etc.
We also know that despite all this, identifying and taking up the opportunity to speak with a financial adviser or money coaching sessions, is very under utilised within the veteran community, and sadly far too may reach out when their financial situation is desperate and often beyond a simple fix or making some tweaks.
Veteran Financial Connect is committed to helping veterans take control of their finances, set themselves and their family up for the best possible future, and provide an independent platform for veterans to find the financial help, services and advice they need.
We want to see veterans and serving members become more engaged and informed on financial matters, and help create a better financial outcome for our veteran community.
